Nokia E71 - The Ultimate Communicator

Started by Jonathan · 10 months ago

I’ve been playing with Nokia devices for a few years now thanks to the blogger relations program but the program has been focused on the Nseries line. This past week however, I received an E71 which has made me an instant Eseries convert. The E as you might expect stands for Enterpri ... Continue reading »

  • Thanks for the review. I have been looking for reviews on the phone and your video does a particularly great job highlighting some of the great features in this phone. I have read that the phone is pretty zippy and applications open pretty quickly. Is this your experience too?
  • Thanks!

The phone is super fast! I think you'll be very happy ... I have minimal gripes - mainly the lack of some nseries stuff, but that's just how it works today for Nokia.
  • It is odd that the business phones seem to be a generation behind in some senses. I understand underplaying the media stuff in business phones but not including the latest versions of things like the gallery in the business phones that you see in the N-series phones (I read a review that indicated that the gallery format is the older format) is just silly. Unless I am missing something?

On the other hand I was impressed when I found out that the E71 had features like the 3.2 megapixel camera, radio and so on. It indictates that Nokia doesn't expect these phones to be used solely for dry business stuff.
  • I have no idea why they make the decisions they do ... the latest eseries are really about using the same device all the time too - with that mode switch - yet they limit the fun considerably. It seems completely arbitrary actually ...
  • This approach makes more sense for me. The line between work and not-work is pretty fine and is often blurred. I certainly don't have different phones for work and home so I want a phone that I can use pretty much all the time.

The dual mode thing looks interesting. I am not sure if I'll use it all that much but it does provide an interesting way to separate work and home life.
  • That was the best review on E71 I've ever seen. Thank you.

But I still wonder how youtube.com would work on E71's browser :)
  • FYI, downgrade of this series has been released, it's E63.
